First our thoughts and a little about us :

As you read down this page , you may think to yourself , that these Blokes are just trying to re-invent the wheel . Well I guess that in some ways we are , but we hope , and with a little help from you , we might just be able to make our wheel a little different from the other wheels out there . If we do , then well and good , if not , then we will add this site to all the others spreading good information on the Internet . If you would like to help , please read on .

There are four of us at this time , Fred ( myself ) , George , Peter and David . We all work in the computer industry in one field or other and between us we have quite a few years of experience behind us . We are also doing this site in our spare time , what there is of that , that is . We have this site for other work purposes but the web site part was never used , basically going to waste , sort of . We are also paying for this site out of our own pockets . It is not associated with the companies we work for in any way .

We first started this site to help with some information for the new users to computing and the Internet . Because during our normal work day we are called to so many computers that have problems , so many problems in fact that as an example , one computer that we went to was so bogged down that it took forty five seconds to open Notepad , not because there was anything really wrong with the computer , it was just full of Malware , Trojans and Virus's . The owner thought that the computer was slow because it was wearing out or something , after about two hours work it was working fine again , the owner was amazed .

This person and most of the other people that we visit on a day to day basis , mostly do not know what a firewall is , what Antivirus is , let alone a router , Anti Addware etc. , some say they have heard of such things but do not know much about them .

You may be a little amazed at the above statement , but it is very true . These are the machines that are being hijacked in one way or another to spread all the garbage , Virus's , Trojans , etc. , etc. , that we all have to put up with , that is not quite correct , we have to try and avoid , might be a better way of putting it , all the garbage out there coming at you from the Internet . It costs you time and money to guard against this stuff .

As I said our original idea was to just have a small site with information for the new users out there . But then we thought why stop there , there must be plenty of other people like us with some experience in computing and the Internet , tired of all this garbage , and have some free time and who might like to help out here in some way or other . We figured that if we can educate and reduce the amount of hijacked computers , even by a small percentage , every little bit helps , sort of thing .

One day we were discussing the site over a beer , and thought why stop there , why not include everyone , a sort of information exchange , on software , hardware , and any other information that will help anyone in computing and the Internet . The site is located in Australia , and we propose to deal with Aussie problems , but the site is not restricted to Aussies in any way . We also want International input as well , from any country , share the knowledge , sort of thing , no one person knows it all , two heads are better than one , the more heads , the more information you have . We would like to hear from anyone interested , no matter where they live on this planet of ours .

The site itself : This site is for computer related material and matters only .

There will be a section for Software . Here will be listed the known good software , and the not so known good software , what to buy and what not to buy , and why . You may have a piece of software that is good , but it is not so known , let us know and we will post it . There is a mountain of good software out there by small writers that get very little publicity , for many reasons , we would like to help these people , because a lot of times their programs are very good . Also free software , there is a mountain of this as well , and a lot of it also is very good .

A section for hardware . In some ways similar to the software section , but this one will be a little more difficult to handle because hardware changes so quickly . But things like , what is a good router , etc. , etc. , discuss different hardware and so on .

A section for information for the new users out there . Any information that will help to educate the new users out there , on anything to do with computers .

Blog and Blurb pages where people can have their say about computing .

A forum if we get enough interest .

A Pub , for general computer chat , again , if enough interest .

We will listen to any suggestions and add them to the site if they are considered good enough .
